Adding an extra node/node when clicking hyoerlinked button

Hi when I use the drop down top menu everything works fine. But when I click a front page button and go to another page that has more buttons on it and click one of those buttons instead it taking me to node/8 for example it takes me to a page cannot be found error "The requested page "/node/node/8" could not be found". so it is adding an extra node into the address line. so to recap, when I go to the page with the buttons from the top menu drop down it works fine. When I go to the page from one of the front page buttons using your sample code and I click on the button on the next page it is adding an extra node.
